Eight doctors make up the medical staff of the department at Pellegrin Hospital: three professors of urology, four consultant urologists and one consultant physician. Each of them leads one area of the department’s work, and each of them runs clinics, operates and teaches.

They are not alone on the ward. As a university department, we also train and work with seven clinical fellows and eight residents in urology, who take part in clinics, in theatre and in the care of inpatients under the supervision of the consultant responsible for the area concerned.

The consultant staff

Titles are those of the French hospital system. A professor of urology holds a joint university and hospital appointment, combining clinical work, teaching and research; a consultant is a hospital-appointed specialist. Each entry opens on that doctor’s background, clinical practice and research.

Clinical fellows and residents

Seven clinical fellows work in the department. They are qualified urologists in the years following their specialist training, each attached to one of the areas above, with their own operating lists and clinics.

Eight residents in urology are in specialist training here. They rotate through the department for six-month placements, as part of the Bordeaux urology training programme, and are present on the ward, in clinics and in theatre.

Fellows and residents are named on the French-language pages of the site, which follow the changes of each academic year. Whoever you see, the consultant responsible for your care is one of the eight doctors listed above.

The French-language site carries the full profile of every doctor in the department, including the clinical fellows and the residents: consultant staff and fellows and residents.
